Basic Info

Amandine Bach

Amandine Bach works with the European Women’s Lobby as Policy Officer in charge of issues concerning migration, integration, asylum and anti-discrimination.

The European Women’s Lobby (EWL) is the largest umbrella organisation of women’s associations in the European Union (EU). The EWL Secretariat is based in Brussels, but it has National Coordinations in 27 Member States of the EU and in 3 candidate countries as well as 20 European members’ organisations, which gathers in total about 2000 organisations.

Amandine is the Coordinator of “Equal Rights, Equal Voices: Migrant Women in the European Union” (2006-2011), a project that builds on three main observations:
- Migrant women have specific needs and are facing specific obstacles in the integration process
- Migrant women play a central role in the integration process
- Migrant women’s voices are barely heard and reflected in the integration debate that remains gendered-neutral

This process started with the organisation in January 2007 of a seminar gathering migrant women from 20 countries which resulted in a set of recommendations towards EU decision-makers. One of the key role of EWL since then has been to ensure that the voices of migrant women’s organisations are heard at European level, but also to facilitate the setting up of European Network of Migrant Women - with national coordinations in each country - which will be officially launched at the end of 2009.
