Trusting a mentor is an important step

Back to discussions

Author Jette Drewsen here reflects upon the importance of being able to trust a new person in the mentoring relationship. She is one of the creative and visionary people, whom we have invited to share their thoughts about mentoring and learning through networks on this website. Some were inspired by real life stories from KVINFOs mentor network. We also asked them about important mentors in their own lives.

Be inspired and join the discussion!

Jette Drewsen, Author:

"After reading about Shukria and Sanne, I feel certain that Shukria has got what it takes to accomplish her goals. What impresses me the most is her being able to find and trust a mentor, to reach out, when she needed to, and to establish a relationship with another person in her new country.

This ability to get aquainted with Sanne as a helper and a friend, while managing life with a husband and four children, is a good omen for the future. In my understanding it is a step towards the difficult balancing between private life and professional life.

I think that in five years time, Shukria will be all set in the job she's preparing for as a pre-scool teacher, hopefully happy and perhaps making new plans to further improve her professional situation."
